Emma Best was elected as a London-wide Conservative Assembly Member in May 2021. She is also a Councillor in Waltham Forest, where she is Deputy Leader of the Opposition.
Before the Assembly, Emma worked in children services, helping some of London’s most vulnerable children and young people access services and support. Previous to that she worked on a number of vital public infrastructure construction projects within London.
Emma entered politics after experiencing the struggles of London first-hand; sofa surfing, knife crime, and the rising cost of living. She was first elected as a councillor in the London Borough of Redbridge shortly after her 23rd birthday. She has served as a councillor in Waltham Forest since 2018 where she is leading the charge against inappropriate overdevelopment and for better early years services.
She is the GLA Conservative spokesperson for Health and Vice-Chair of the Health Committee. She also sits on the Oversight Committee, Planning & Regeneration Committee and Environment Committee.
